We were charged with the site planning, landscaping and architecture for this proposed multi-use recreational center on a 24-acre site in Queens that was once the Flushing airport. With materials including slate, fieldstone and wood shingles, the clubhouse we designed intentionally evokes the great Long Island estates of the early 20th century as well as the country clubs of this era. It anchors year-round driving range stalls stacked in its adjacent wings and includes indoor and outdoor dining areas, a rooftop restaurant with panoramic views of Manhattan, a pro shop and offices. The totally "green" facility will employ state-of-the-art sustainable technologies including geo-thermal heating and air conditioning, solar and wind power, and permeable paving.
